SMS-TORK Featured on the Cover of Valve World’s October Issue
  • 30 Sep 2026

SMS-TORK has been featured as the cover story of the October 2026 issue of Valve World, one of the international publications serving the valve and flow control industry. In the exclusive interview titled “SMS TORK: Building the Next Generation of Actuation,” our General Manager, Ömer Kaya, discussed our investments in electric actuator technologies, expanding production capacity, digitalisation initiatives and sustainable growth goals.

Next-Generation Technologies in Electric Actuators

One of the key topics highlighted in Valve World’s October issue is SMS-TORK’s growing investment in electric actuator technologies.

Our journey, which began nearly 40 years ago, continues to evolve in line with changing industrial needs. Starting with our first 60 Nm part-turn electric actuator, our product range has now expanded to include 40, 80, 150 and 200 Nm options, while development work on 300 and 500 Nm models is also underway.

The interview also highlights our multi-turn electric actuators as an important part of our future growth strategy. Following an extensive R&D and product development process, this product range will soon enter serial production, with the aim of expanding its presence in international markets.

From Lean Manufacturing to Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence

In addition to our product technologies, the Valve World interview also explores the transformation of our manufacturing infrastructure.

Our Lean Manufacturing initiatives, launched in 2019, have laid an important foundation for our digital transformation while making our production processes more efficient and sustainable. Through lean manufacturing practices, workforce requirements on certain production lines have been reduced by approximately 25–30%, while production output has increased by around 50–60%.

Today, we are preparing to take our production infrastructure, supported by ERP, Power BI and MES systems, to the next level with artificial intelligence, automation and robotics technologies. We continue to explore the potential of AI in processes such as product selection, quotation preparation and transferring customer orders into our ERP system.

Expanding Production Capacity for a Sustainable Future

To meet the growing demand for electric actuators, we are expanding our production area by approximately 5,000 m². The new production area will play an important role in increasing our electric actuator manufacturing capacity.

We are pursuing this growth alongside our investments in sustainability. The solar energy system installed on the roof of our factory has been designed with the capacity to generate more electricity than our current consumption. Recycling materials generated during manufacturing is also an important part of our sustainable production approach.

Developing the Flow Control Technologies of the Future Today

The Valve World October 2026 cover story explores SMS-TORK’s transformation towards the future not only through new products, but also through manufacturing technology, capacity, digitalisation, artificial intelligence, automation and sustainability.

From new torque options in electric actuators and the expansion of multi-turn products into international markets to increased production capacity and digital manufacturing infrastructure, we aim to bring the engineering solutions we develop in Türkiye to more countries around the world.

With more than 40 years of manufacturing and engineering experience, we continue to shape the future of flow control technologies and strengthen our growth in global markets.
